Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir
Wine
Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir is grown on the exposed slopes of the Sexton Vineyard. Its neighbours are the vineyards of iconic Yarra Valley producers Yarra Yering and Coldstream Hills.
The vines have established their roots in shallow gravelly loam over a tough, rocky clay base. The result is low yields of fruit with a high skin to juice ratio, making the grapes more intense in flavour.
Indigenous yeast fermentation occurs in oak fermenters. Some parcels see 100% whole bunch inclusion; the rest are destemmed without crushing and are allowed to warm naturally for fermentation.
At dryness the wine is pressed to small French oak barrels to mature for up to 12 months. It is then racked, blended and bottled via gravity without fining or filtration.
Light crimson, Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir is medium bodied with red fruit flavours, supple tannins and a long, earthy finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
